1•What is Email Marketing and How Does It Work? Simply said, Email Marketing is a sort of Digital Marketing in which you collect emails from people who are interested in a particular speciality (List Building). Then you send emails to those people marketing a service, product, blog, or anything else to boost revenue and website traffic. Email Marketing's
Email Marketing.
The main Advantages When compared to other digital marketing tactics, the fundamental advantage of email marketing is twofold:
1- Cost: Did you know that for just $10, you can send up to 100K emails?
I'll go over how you can save a lot of money with email marketing later, particularly if you utilize your email marketing system.
Later, I'll discuss how you can save a lot of money with email marketing, especially if you create your email marketing system.
2- Ease of Use: Email Marketing Automation makes it easy!
Today, we have a plethora of email marketing platforms such as MailChimp, Aweber, GetResponse, and others that make managing your email marketing campaigns, email lists, and other aspects of your business simple.
Even if you create your system, which will be far less expensive, you can have the same ease of use and features as those corporations.
Is Email Marketing Effective Anymore?
Yes, without a doubt!
•Email is used by 94 per cent of Internet users nowadays, whereas social media is used by only 61 per cent.
•Email marketing is the favoured marketing tool for 75% of adult internet users.
•The "opt-in" component of email enables consent-based marketing, which implies users are opting into your list and allowing you to market to them and send them messages.
•When you design your lists effectively, you may target a specific audience based on region, demographics, interests, or simply those who enjoy your content.
•Compared to social network communications, email messages have a considerably wider choice of formatting options. We will talk about Email templates later in the last section.
•Click-through rates, open rates, bounce rates, and conversion rates may all be tracked more easily using email.
As a result, if done correctly, email marketing can dramatically boost your earnings. Don't worry, I'll show and guide you through the process of getting started and adhering to best practices.
Email marketers come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
I categorize email marketers into two groups:
I refer to the first type as "bulk mailers."
The second group is known as "Straight Marketers."
Of course, these Terms were made to make things easier for you to grasp; they are not scientific.
Bulk mailers are those that collect, scrape, or buy people's email addresses and then send them promotional emails to promote their service or share an affiliate link to make a commission. They are referred to as spammers.
Why do spammers exist?
Because they're sending emails to people they don't know and who haven't permitted them to do so.
Marketers with a Straight Face:
The "Legal" kind of email marketing, in which websites and businesses promote their services and send updates and newsletters to only those who have subscribed to their lists.
Structure of the email marketing system
What Should I Do First?
•To put it another way, if you want to work with email marketing, you must first learn about the Email Marketing System Architecture.
•Any email marketing system is made up of two parts:
•The technical aspect is the sender (SMTP service). You can use it to send emails via the internet.
•The Management Application allows you to configure and manage your Email Lists, Marketing Campaigns, track and analyze outcomes, and manage your sending servers, among other things.
As a result, we integrate the two to create an Email Marketing System.
We now have two options:
1- We can use an email marketing company like MailChimp, Aweber, Getresponse, or other companies that provide both aspects in one platform.
2- Alternatively, you can create your Email Marketing System by constructing or subscribing to a Sending Service (SMTP) such as AWS SES, Mailgun, Mandrill, etc.
Installing email marketing software such as Mailwizz, Mailster, Mamura, Interspire, or other similar programs.
Then you connect the two and you've got yourself a system.
Using your system has only one minor disadvantage: while setting up the system for the first time, it can take up to 2-3 days to get everything set up correctly. However, you will be able to send 10 times as many emails for a fraction of the cost.
For instance, for about $10, you may send up to 100,000 emails.
2. In-Depth Email Marketing System
What exactly is SMTP?
What is the SMTP service, which I indicated in the initial aspect of an email marketing system?
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, or SMTP, is a technical term for a network protocol that allows you to send emails over the internet.
What is an Email Marketing App?
Now that we have an SMTP server that can send emails, the next step is to figure out how to send emails. How can I establish email marketing campaigns and save my email lists? How can I keep track of my campaigns and send out automated emails?
Simply put, we connect an Email Marketing program to an SMTP server, and from there, we can manage and control everything, while the app sends emails via SMTP.
Email marketing services are available.
The other option is to sign up for an Email Marketing service that will provide you with both elements (SMTP and Application) in one straightforward, simple platform, so you don't have to bother about technical details.
What is the finest email marketing service?
When deciding on a service, you should consider the following four factors:
•Price\s•Features\s•Simplicity\s•Support
1. Pricing: I'm going to do a quick comparison of the top five email marketing firms.
Assume we have a contact list of 5000 people (emails).
We also want to send an infinite number of emails to those contacts monthly.
Every business will begin with a monthly budget of at least 49 dollars.
74.99$ for MailChimp
CampaignMonitor costs $49 per month.
79$ for a GetResponse
AWeber costs $49 per month.
79$ for ConvertKit.
As you can see, all services start at 49 dollars for 5000 contacts and go up to 400 dollars for 75000 contacts and so on.
2. Features: When comparing features, we find that the majority of services have nearly identical features.
Yes, some, like GetResponse, may offer funnel builders, and others, like AWeber, may include image hosting options.
However, when it comes to the fundamental email marketing capabilities, such as list building and management, campaign management and monitoring, form builder, and integrations, the list building and management, campaign management and monitoring, and form builder are the most important.
The powerful qualities of all of these tools are the same.
3. Simplicity: All of these top companies use simple platforms that anyone can learn to use in a day.
4. Support: All have excellent support and response in general.
So, how do you decide?
To make things simple for you, if you are just getting started with your online business and don't have a large list and only require the essential email marketing services, simply go to the pricing page and select the cheapest package or even the Free plan.
If you think you'll need more features, you can look at each one and the comprehensive features it offers, and then choose the one that best suits your needs.
However, if your company is expanding and you're planning a large email marketing campaign, and you can't afford these businesses' recurring fees, you can construct your Email Marketing system.
You can transmit 100K for $10 with an infinite number of subscribers using your system.
Putting Together Your System.
To build your email marketing system, you must configure and set up two things:
1- SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) Server (the sender)
2- The application for email marketing.
"I don't have any IT abilities, and I don't want to trouble my head with this stuff!" you might argue.
I'm here to take something you believe is difficult and turn it into a piece of cake. YES!
1- Building an SMTP Server with 10/10 as “Sending Score”
So the first step is to build the sender server or what we call the SMTP server.
We can build this server using several methods and applications:
• PowerMTA
• Postfix server
• Exim
• Sendmail
or other services.
Don’t worry about these terms now if you are not familiar with them.
Or you can build using an SMTP service like AWS SES, Mailgun, Mandrill.
And Then Install an Email Marketing Application Like Mailwizz, Mailster, or other applications. Then you connect both and have your system as if you are subscribed to MailChimp or other services.
What is the mechanism behind this?
You'll need to set up an SMTP service like Amazon SES, which is the cheapest SMTP service in comparison to all other SMTP providers and has excellent sending rates and a fantastic delivery score.
After that, you'll need to set up a Mailing application. Several apps are available. You can watch the videos below to learn how to install Mailwizz and Mailster, which are both available for a one-time fee of $50.
3•Building Email Lists is number three on the list of things to do.
What is the definition of list building?
Now that we've figured out how to use the email marketing system, let's go on to the next step.
Where do I begin?
The first step is to develop a business strategy and consider how you will collect leads (email addresses) and grow your email lists.
As a result, List Building is the process of gathering emails and organizing them into orderly Lists.
So you'll be able to send them emails... I believe that is self-evident.
What is a Lead Magnet, and how does it work?
•Using a Lead Magnet is the simplest and most usual technique to correctly develop Email Lists.
•Simply said a lead magnet is anything you give away for free in exchange for people's email addresses.
•It might be anything from a free booklet to a free course to software. However, it is preferable to be related to your service and people’s interest so that you can build a targeted email list.
•Also, it’s essential to give a High-Quality Lead magnet, so people will trust you and will love maybe to get your premium paid services later when you promote through emails.
•Also, there are a lot of other methods and tactics you can use to build a Targeted email list:
It is the general concept of list building. Let us now go over some more details and other methods for building and growing your email lists, as well as some practical examples.
1- Newsletter Subscription
It is the most basic email collection approach. Almost every website will have a box somewhere on the page asking whether you want to sign up for the newsletter and receive updates.
So, if you're interested in the stuff on that website, you'll sign up for their updates.
How to add subscription forms?
It is super simple today because almost everybody is using WordPress, Blogger, Joomla, or even an already made website that includes such types of forms by default.
What you need to do is simply to connect these forms with your Email marketing systems like MailChimp, Aweber, or your Application like mailwizz or Mailster.
2- Popup or slide in Optin boxes
You can use timed popups on your website that will appear on your website while someone is reading an article or so.
Best practices and Tips:
Sense of humour: To increase your email lists, you might want to try injecting some personality into your call to action, like this one from Optimonk:
Give value in the call to action: for example, use the following keywords: “Download,” “Featured,” “Exclusive,” “Access,” instead of “Sign Up” and such traditional phrases.
Let people feel about the value or what they will get when they subscribe.
Use Timing: Setting the offer for a limited period will encourage people to take advantage of it before it expires. You can show a countdown timer to encourage people to take advantage of it before it expires.
3- Incorporate your newsletter into your social media profiles, forum profiles, and email signatures.
If you have a following on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, Quora, or any other social media platform or discussion forum, try promoting your newsletter there to attract new subscribers.
4- Host a Giveaway:
Giveaways are well-known as one of the most effective ways to develop your business, not only on your email list but also on social media, YouTube, and other platforms.
To build and manage a Giveaway, you can utilize platforms like easypromosapp, rafflecopter, short stack, or gleam.io.
5- Paid Facebook Lead Ads:
You can conduct a campaign on Facebook Ads to collect leads, and consumers will be able to sign up directly from Facebook. The email list can then be exported from Facebook to your email marketing application.
There are many additional techniques and strategies for developing email lists that you may utilize, but this was a focus on the most well-known strategies used by marketers.
So now that we've developed our email marketing system and our email list, you're ready to start sending emails and marketing our services.
But, before you hit the submit button, there are a few key terms and concepts to understand.
4- Crucial Terminologies
Open and Click Rates: Let's say you sent a message to 1000 recipients in an email marketing campaign.
The message will not be opened by everyone.
The open rate of this campaign is defined as the percentage of persons that open the message. I believe the concept is straightforward.
For instance, if 300 people opened the message, the open rate is 30%.
The same is true for click rate, which is the percentage of persons who clicked on any of the message's links.
It's critical to track both open and click rates and analyze the findings to determine how successful your efforts are.
How do you keep track of things?
This feature is usually included in all email marketing software.
So, whether you have your email marketing system or are using an email marketing provider (as we previously mentioned), you will be able to readily track these KPIs.
You should also be aware that you can do a split test. You break your campaign into two parts, each with its subject line and text, as well as various SMTP servers.
Then you compare the two campaigns to discover which one fared better.
Spam and Inbox: It's an email marketer's nightmare!
Hundreds of queries are sent to me regularly:
"Can you tell me how to get to the inbox?"
"My emails have been marked as spam. Please assist!"
"How can I get through spam filters?"
and related inquiries
When you send an email to anyone, it is possible that it will be classed as spam and will not reach the inbox.
As a result, the recipient will be unaware of the message, lowering your open and click rates and causing your email marketing efforts to fail.
What causes emails to be flagged as spam?
We have three primary reasons that may cause your emails to be marked as spam.
1- Spammy Keywords: There is a list of keywords and terms that are classified as spam keywords, thus if one of these keywords appears in your message or subject, your message will most likely be classed as spam.
2- Message signing and DNS records (Dkim, rDNS, SPF):
SPF (Sender Policy Framework) is an acronym for "Sender Policy Framework."
An SPF record is a TXT record that you add to your Domain DNS Zone to specify which mail servers are permitted to deliver emails from your domain.
Messages submitted from a server not listed in the SPF record will be ignored or designated as spam.
You can't, for example, send an email from your server with the sending email address "mail@google.com," because you can't use Google's domain. It means you're attempting to spam.
In the same way, you can configure SPF to prevent others from sending emails from your domain. Setting SPF is critical for making your domain trusted by other mailing providers.
To set up SPF, follow these steps. Add the following record to your DNS zone:
v=spf1 a ip4:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX ~all
`Replace with your server IP.
Your server is now the only one that can send emails from your domain.
DomainKeys Identified Mail (Dkim):
A public authentication key is stored in a Dkim record, which is a text entry in your DNS. A private key stored privately on your server will be used to validate this key.
All emails will be signed, which will prevent tampering and maintain your email's originality, which is critical for your server's ability to archive high sending scores.
DNS (Domain Name System):
The reverse DNS, also known as a pointer record, is used to point your IP address to your domain; it is the inverse of the ordinary DNS A record.
As a result, when you dial the IP, you will be given the name. It's also important for setting up your mail server and improving your sending reputation and score.
3- The State of Your Email List:
It's critical to keep your email lists fresh and clean to keep your mailing system healthy. To maintain your email list healthy, remove any inactive or invalid emails that may cause your bounce rate to rise, resulting in a negative impact on your reputation.
The reputation of IP and domain.
When you set up an SMTP server or sign up for an SMTP service like Amazon SES and acquire a dedicated IP address.
Your IP and domain will both receive a score. This score affects whether or not your server will deliver it to the inbox.
As a result, a higher score indicates a strong reputation, which translates to better inbox delivery.
Email bouncing.
If you want to operate a professional and profitable email marketing campaign, you must pay attention to bounce rates and bounce handling.
What is the definition of a Bounced Email?
Simply said, an email will bounce back if it is not sent for whatever reason. As a result, it's known as a bounced email.
Why Do Emails Get Bounced?
The main reason for this is when the email address of the intended recipient is unavailable or does not exist. If the target email is momentarily unavailable, you will receive a Soft Bounce; if it does not exist at all, you will receive a Hard Bounce.
The most important thing to remember is that your bounce rate has a huge impact on your email marketing system, as excessive bounce rates might result in you being banned and having your IP and domain reputation lowered. As a result, your emails will be designated as spam.
